About the Event
The Year 8 Rottnest Island Camp is an exciting three-day educational experience designed to support students’ learning in Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), with a focus on History and Geography.
During the camp, students will explore Wadjemup / Rottnest Island, developing an understanding of its significance to the Noongar people, its colonial past, and how history continues to shape Australia today. Through site visits and guided activities, students will engage with real historical locations and sources.
Geography learning will include investigating the island’s unique coastal landscapes, ecosystems, and landforms, as well as exploring human interactions with the environment, conservation, and sustainability. Students will also have hands on experience navigating and interpreting maps as they explore the island landscape.
