GDHS Faction Cross Country

FUN RUN OBJECTIVE:

1. Build health and develop confidence through physical activity.

2. For all participating students to complete their respective courses briskly, by  running, jogging, walking or a combination of these paces.

3. Encourage students in demonstrating the behavioural expectations. To “Care,  Respect, Try & be Responsible”. (CRTR values)

DRESS: School polo shirt or Faction coloured shirt: APOLLO – Green, ATHENA – Yellow & POSEIDON – Blue.  Black shorts or bike pants/skins.  Bring school jacket to wear after the races are completed.

FOOTWEAR: Competitors must run in shoes.

ORGANISATION:  All students should ensure that they have a drink and go to the toilet at the end of lunch.  At the siren, Primary students are to return to classrooms, Secondary students go to their Period 5 class.  Students are then to be escorted to the finish area on the oval for a brief assembly.

DRINKS: Water will be provided to all competitors after they complete their races.

CANTEEN: The Canteen will be operating throughout the event with lunch, afternoon tea and refreshments available for purchase.

PRESENTATIONS: Presentation of medallions and shield will conclude the competition.

PRIMARY INTERSCHOOL: For those students that are selected for Interschool Cross Country, this will be held on Friday 24th May 2024 (week 6) at Gingin Golf Course. A detailed letter will go home after the GDHS Cross Country if your child is selected to participate.

SECONDARY INTERSCHOOL: For those students that are selected for Interschool Cross Country, this will be held on Thursday 16th May 2024 (Week 5) at UWA Sports Park. A detailed letter will go home after the GDHS Cross Country if your child is selected to participate.

PROGRAM

12.05pm  End of Period 3

12.05 – 12.25pm  Afternoon Recess.

12.25pm Students to get their coloured wrist flagging and go to the toilet/get a drink.

12.35PM  Students escorted and assembled in front of age race finish chute.  Checkpoints move into position.  Teachers assume their roles.

12.50pm Year 3 to Year 10 students move to Faction areas southern side of cricket pitch. Year 1-2 competitors move to start position.
