From the Prinicipal 

Welcome to Gingin District High School. Our school is keen to welcome new members to our school community and we look forward to a positive relationship with students and parents. We are a caring school and we attempt to provide a rigorous curriculum for all our students in an environment of community support.

As a Kindergarten to Year 10 school we are able to nurture our students over their whole educational career. We have achieved very good performance in Literacy and Numeracy over the past few years, and many of our students have achieved outstanding results at Year 11 and 12 level in schools that they have transitioned into. Our school provides a high level of care in a beautiful rural environment, and we are justifiably proud of the work of our teaching and non-teaching staff.

Our school's vision is: “to lead in the provision of education within the community through provision of a relevant curriculum that embraces a balance between academic achievement and citizenship. The school endeavours to create an uplifting positive environment where all students, staff and community members feel a sense of belonging. The school works collaboratively to provide opportunities for all to reach their full potential celebrates achievements with pride.

Our school works with the Western Australian curriculum defined by the Western Australian School’s Curriculum and Standards Authority, and our standards are defined in terms of comparisons to state-wide norms and expectations.

Our behavioural expectations for students are unique to this school, and have been developed by staff, parents and students. We expect all staff and students to be Considerate, show Respect, Try, and be Responsible. We use the acronym ‘CRTR’ (pronounced ‘Critter’) to highlight these expectations. You will see our Critter posters and a Behaviour Expectations Matrix in all classrooms.

Parents are the first teachers of their children and we value your collaboration with us as partners in your child’s education. As such, we hope that you find this year’s Information Handbook useful and helpful.
